AI Skin Scanner

How AISkincare's AI analyzes your skin in seconds from a selfie across six dermatology-grade metrics and zone-by-zone breakdown.

What Is AISkincare's AI Skin Scanner?

AISkincare's AI skin scanner is a machine-learning-powered analysis tool that examines a selfie to measure six dermatological metrics — hydration, texture, tone, acne, pores, and redness — generating a composite skin score out of 100 with zone-specific breakdowns in seconds.

The scanner runs inside the AISkincare app on your phone. You open the camera, align your face in the on-screen guide, and tap to capture. Your image is securely sent to our proprietary AI service (not third-party models like OpenAI or Google). Results include an overall score, per-metric scores, and optional zone-by-zone analysis for forehead, cheeks, chin, and T-zone.

Use the scanner to establish a baseline, track how your skin changes over time, and inform your personalized skincare routine and skin progress tracking. No subscription is required to try your first scan; Free users get one full scan per day and limited quick scans, while Pro users get more scans and full insights.

What Does the AI Analyze in Your Selfie?

The AI analyzes pixel-level patterns across facial zones — forehead, cheeks, chin, and T-zone — detecting variations in skin color, surface texture, light reflectance, and pore visibility that correspond to clinical indicators of hydration, inflammation, sebum, and pigmentation.

Six core metrics are scored: hydration (moisture level), texture (smoothness), tone (evenness), acne (breakouts and severity), pores (visibility and size), and redness (inflammation). Full scans can also surface skin type (normal, dry, oily, combination, sensitive), pigmentation and undertone, and optional dark-spot and fine-line scores.

Each metric is presented as a number you can track over time. Higher scores are better for hydration, texture, and tone; for acne, pores, and redness, lower scores indicate improvement. Learn more in our 6 skin metrics explained and zone-by-zone facial analysis guides.

Quick Scan vs Full Scan: Which Should I Use?

Quick Scan gives you a fast overall score, skin type, top concerns, and a daily tip — ideal for a quick check without a full report. It uses one photo and returns in seconds. Full Scan delivers the complete analysis: all six metrics, zone breakdowns, skin type and pigmentation, and personalized recommendations. Full scans take a few seconds longer but provide the data you need for progress tracking and routine optimization.

Free users get one full scan per day and a limited number of quick scans; Pro users get more full and quick scans per day. Choose Quick Scan for daily check-ins and Full Scan when you want detailed skin metrics and the ability to compare before and after over weeks or months.

How Accurate Is an AI Skin Scan?

AI skin scans provide reliable trending data for common metrics and excel at tracking personal change over time. They are not a medical diagnostic tool and should not replace a dermatologist for conditions like suspicious moles or persistent acne.

AISkincare's AI is trained to recognize patterns associated with hydration, texture, tone, acne, pores, and redness. Results are best used for routine optimization, product choices, and comparing scans over time. Consistency in how you scan (lighting, time of day) improves trend reliability. For diagnosis or treatment, always consult a healthcare provider. See skin scan accuracy for a deeper dive.

Getting the Best Results: Lighting and Positioning

Natural, even lighting in front of a window (without direct sun on your face) usually gives the most consistent results. Avoid harsh shadows, overhead-only light, or mixed color temperatures. Clean, product-free skin and a neutral expression help the AI focus on your skin rather than makeup or shadows.

The app guides you to position your face and capture when the frame is steady. For more tips, see best lighting for skin scan. Scanning at a similar time of day (e.g., morning or evening) makes it easier to compare scans over time.

Privacy and Data Security

Your facial photos are encrypted in transit and processed only on our secure infrastructure. We do not send images to third-party public AI models or use them to train public or foundational models. Data is retained for a limited time (up to 2 years from your last scan or until account deletion), and you can delete individual scans or your entire account at any time.

We do not sell your data. For full details, see our privacy and data hub, how skin scan data is protected, and the in-app Privacy Policy.
